Ready for Her New Owner

The last month has been filled with final touch ups, close outs, detailing, and fine tuning the running gear.  But all is worth it as she is sitting pretty back at the docks of Ocean Isle Marina and Yacht club.  I have added some interior and exterior final pics to the yachts page, so check them out to see the final product.  We have approx. 2 more weeks of tweaking at the docks and she will be ready for full time fish greasing.

About 3 weeks ago, we did however get the oppurtunity to run her offshore for a trip.  We left Little River inlet and as always the weather man missed his forecast.  With a SE 15-20 wind, decided to head towards the Scarp on the break and have a 3 - 4 foot swell at a 1/4 head sea.  Even under these conditions, we were able to make the 65 mile run at 28 kts without any problem.  Upon arrival, the water was still dirty from the previous weeks storms.  But we put them out on the break and began to see what kind of spread she was going to provide us.  We were able to run a 9 line spread and 2 teasers, even without all of the rod holders yet installed.  The trolling alleys were clear and white water was at approx 1/2 a boat length back.  Our first strike was a king and blood was on the boat.  Overall the day was slow but we did manage a few more kings and some large dolphin.  And as a end of the day saver, we tried a little deeper water and on the short rigger a blue marlin popped up.  Although it was small at approx. a little over 100 lbs, its was still a billfish.  All was well and a quick release.  Now that just set the day, as now we know she will raise the fish even under bad conditions.
